2024/25 Season

The Jungle Theater is excited to announce its latest season! With the return of the critically acclaimed DINNER FOR ONE, the world premiere of FAST FWD MOTIONS, a full lineup of play readings and more, join us for a season of delightful and thought-provoking performances.

“We are bursting with anticipation for this bold new season! This year, we’re thrilled to present three full productions gracing our stage, alongside an exciting lineup of four plays in our reading series.

There’s a lot to do at the Jungle. Beyond our main productions and reading series, we’re opening our doors to other vibrant theater companies in town, making our cozy space a hub of theatrical excellence and community spirit. Despite being a small venue, we promise experiences that leave a lasting impact, and we’re committed to growing with our audience.

The Jungle is all about big dreams and even bigger experiences, all housed in an intimate space that celebrates creativity, bold choices, and serves as a vessel for artists to bring their stories to life. Join us this season at the Jungle and discover why keeping it local means an unforgettable night at the theater. We are YOUR theater — bring your story to our stage.”

DINNER FOR ONE

Directed By Christina Baldwin
Co-Created By Christina Baldwin, Sun Mee Chomet, Jim Lichtscheidl
Music Direction by Emilia Mettenbrink

Featuring Sun Mee Chomet, Jim Lichtscheidl

November 30, 2024 - January 5, 2025

Based on an iconic slapstick comedy sketch and New Year’s Eve tradition in Europe for over 60 years, DINNER FOR ONE tells the story of a butler helping his employer celebrate her annual dinner party. Unpredictable mishaps and a little too much wine result in a hilarious evening full of physical comedy, music, and human connection.

Returning after a sold-out premiere during the winter of 2023, DINNER FOR ONE is a hilarious and heartfelt celebration of love, loss, found family, and live music.

“Dinner for One is 60 minutes of theatrical perfection - sweet, funny, charming, silly, bittersweet, and thoroughly entertaining.”

THE EFFECT

By Lucy Prebble
Directed By Alison Ruth

Featuring Christina Baldwin

March 1 - 30, 2025

When Connie and Tristan sign up for a clinical trial to test a new antidepressant, they fall for each other—hearts racing, knees buckling—hard. But are their feelings real or nothing more than a dopamine-fueled side effect?

Sealed off from the outside world, their illicit romance throws the trial off course, posing unexpected dilemmas for the supervising doctors; and as the dosage and emotional stakes increase, THE EFFECT keeps audiences guessing, asking which is more powerful—the head or the heart?

Lucy Prebble’s (Succession) razor sharp writing delves into the medicalization of depression for profit by the pharmaceutical industry.

FAST FWD MOTIONS

By Katie Ka Vang

May 31 - June 29, 2025

This world premiere follows a team of working-class Hmong-American women practicing and competing in their ferocious Volleyball League here in Minnesota.

This high-energy script introduces the teammates as they show up for practice—but the more time we spend with these women, what the sport and the team mean to them become clear as life circumstances pull them in different directions.

Take a behind-the-scenes look at the development of this world premiere with the Summer Showcase and play reading of FAST FWD MOTIONS. Click here to learn more about the Showcase.

As the Jungle continues to strive to be more accessible, approachable, and welcoming to younger audiences, we are excited to announce a 3-Ticket FlexPass option at a reduced price.

Each mainstage performance will also include an 40 & Under nights as a more approachable performance to welcome younger audiences to come be together and experience in our theater space. These nights include a special pre-show reception for 40 & Under FlexPass Subscribers.

NEW — Industry Nights

We are introducing select Monday night performances to make the Jungle Theater and its shows more accessible for fellow theater industry folks as well as the Twin Cities’ robust bar, restaurant, and entertainment industries.

Access Services

It’s important to the Jungle to offer a theatrical experience that can be enjoyed by all audience members and patrons. Each Jungle Theater mainstage production includes Open Captioning, Audio Description, and ASL Interpreted performances throughout the run. Learn more on our Accessibility Services page.

Masked Wednesday

Committed to the care of our people and audiences, we are continuing to require masks for Wednesday evening performances, helping us all return to theater in a way that we feel safe.

PAY AS YOU ARE Tickets – Starting at $15 for all performances

PAY AS YOU ARE pricing asks those who routinely pay $45 for theater tickets to pay that amount; it is the actual fair market value of the ticket. If an audience member needs to pay less, they can choose to do so, with tickets starting at only $15 for all Jungle Season shows.

By selecting to pay more than the market price, you help cover the cost of someone else’s ticket and welcome more audiences to the Jungle Theater.
