A special look at our 2023/24 Season
To quote a recent patron, “there’s always something happening at the Jungle.”
It’s true! We are delighted to share what’s happening at the Jungle Theater through the end of 2023, including a full lineup of shows and experiences that celebrate exciting collaborations and feature potent new theater.
This September, the Jungle will open the season with RICH DOGS by WeAreMarried (WAM), the dynamic duo of Jay Owen Eisenberg (starring in THE COURTROOM) and Shelby Richardson (Last seen in THE WOLVES at the Jungle). This near-future, surveillance state comedy follows a romance that unfolds during a chance encounter between two butlers who serve wealthy dogs.
In collaboration with New York’s Spiderwoman Theater’s MISDEMEANOR DREAM tour, October brings a Jungle-produced Native Showcase directed and curated by current Artist Cohort member Sequoia Hauck. This area-wide celebration complements a week-long residency in Spiderwoman Theater’s tour that will showcase work developed from founding member Muriel Miguel’s story weaving workshops.
Next, a free adaptation of Molière’s THE MISANTHROPE will play on the Jungle Theater’s stage in November as a co-production with The Moving Company featuring celebrated Minnesota theater artists Steve Epp, Nathan Keepers and Dominique Serrand. Molière’s most famous work takes a comedic look at societal conventions and the hypocrisy of human behavior.
Based on an iconic slapstick sketch comedy and New Year’s Eve tradition in Europe for over 60 years, the Jungle is excited to produce DINNER FOR ONE by Jungle Theater Artistic Director, Christina Baldwin. This brand-new production will be a hilarious and heartfelt celebration of aging, love, found family, and live music; and will be created in collaboration with local theatermakers Sun Mee Chomet, Jim Lichtscheidl and musician Emilia Mettenbrink. This will run at the Jungle from December 2023 to January 2024.
While there is more to come in 2024, we are thrilled to share these productions with you. As we navigate this complex time for the arts, we are committed to serving our artists and community with great care and intention. We cannot wait to have you join us for another courageous and exciting season at the Jungle!
