About Catalyst Arts
A Small Arts Incubator at the intersection of Art + Activism supporting Artists who define themselves as Changemakers
We place a particular emphasis on increasing the visibility of and providing a platform for artists whose voices have historically been underrepresented in the arts, including (but not limited to): artists of color, LGBTQIA+ artists, immigrants, Indigenous, low-income, and artists exploring non-traditional pathways to success. We are committed to forging new PARTNERSHIPS in rural areas; CONVENING meaningful conversations around race, gender, and politics; supporting the multi- disciplinary DEVELOPMENT of new work… while NURTURING emerging artists and career professionals through experimentation, workshops, consulting, trainings and mentorship.
About Bayou
Was born/live on the east bank of Bdote, Sol System, Milky Way. I am a community artist, graphic designer, and universal spectral collaborator with an innovative eye for the known, yet intangible woven connections we create and experience daily. As an artist/designer, my areas of focus include but are not limited to community/nature-centered consulting, logo/identity design, illustration, woven yarn/fabric installations, and mural painting.
To use my talents in art, design, and idea connecting to generate and support community-driven creative works that center healing, empowerment, liberation, collaboration, abundance mentality, and cooperative economics.
Artistic Response from E.G. Bailey
Exploring the many ways collaborations occur and listening to the vital voices of our artists, the Jungle's SHINE A LIGHT event is pairing participating designers with area artists to create thoughtful responses to the installations. These audio commentaries will be available online throughout the event and add depth for the viewer's experience to help spark expansive conversation.
