Taking a behind-the-scenes look at how theater is made

Night exterior of Jungle Theater and window display

Thank you to all who have joined us for the Jungle’s SHINE A LIGHT: Love of Theater installations. “While COVID temporarily prevents us from gathering in the ways we used to, we continue to find innovative ways to connect artists with audiences, while using the art of theater to tell stories that matter,” Robin Gillette, Managing Director.

“From proposals and plans to sketches and schematics, our winter installment of Shine A Light illuminate[d] the varied technical arts that shape our shows,” Interim Artistic Director Christina Baldwin explains. ”Our summer festival drew inspiration from art museums, and our winter windows are influenced by science museums. We love good design at the Jungle—come take a closer look at how it functions in our shows.”

This display featured installations by four talented local artists Sarah Bahr (Costume), Marcus Dilliard (Lighting), Katharine Horowitz (Sound), and John Novak (props).

These incredible window installations were complemented by virtual content that included audio overlay, behind the scenes photos, interviews, video, and audio commentary.

SHINE A LIGHT was created to lift up the people who make theater, providing a platform to explore themes that impact them and their work. We are extremely thankful for all of our artists who helped make this dream a reality. To all of our designers, craftspeople, and donors thank you.
