Earlier this month the Jungle co-produced the LynLake Street Art Festival and it was a joyful celebration of community and art!

In addition to reminding us about the vitality of our neighborhood, it enforced the idea that art brings people together. The event brought together over 1,000 people to tour the LynLake neighborhood, watching live mural painting and listening to music on the Jungle’s outdoor stage. For many, it was the first time in over a year that they partook in a live arts event and the energy and happiness was palpable. To quote one visitor…

“…after so much destruction, it feels great to witness creation and life.”

Behind the Jungle Theater in the Garfield Lot, the festivities continued with demonstrations from Spray Finger, live glass blowing demonstrations, performances from community organizations, and more! A little bit of rain didn’t slow the weekend down as Saturday highlighted some of our LynLake community’s theaters, dance, and music including performances from The Shrieking Harpies of HUGE Theater, students from Ragamala Dance Company, Lifting a Finger, and performers from Jungle Serial’s Words + Music. The night concluded with a special light display on the Jungle Theater from designer Karin Olsen.

Sunday continued with an amazing turnout for 612 Yoga’s 3 year anniversary morning class and KLASS’ afternoon recital of high-energy dancers that made the audience want to join in on the fun.
